A server which is managed for you!

Usually by the ISP you rent it from.

Does this mean that they will update all the software and install patches and updates for you!

It would depend on what software you are talking about. If you lease a server with apache and cpanel for instance then your server would be updated with these. Any third party software would be your responsibility.

This can be so - but time is money and they will only do so much for you depending on the support contract you have with them. In short - read the SLA and make sure you have in writing what they will and will not do for you b4 you sign on the line.

Standard business practice really.

Your best bet would be to ask the potential provider because everyone (including providers) has their own definition.

Come up with a list of what you expect to be responsible for maintaining and managing; and have a list of what you expect the provider to do.

Then ask your questions away.
