Hi Folks,
Can we create a subdomain names account, with all the features of the second level name? Can we limit the amount of space and bandwidth for a subdomain account too?
The subdomain account will need it's own password, user ID, FTP, site states and serperate space and bandwidth. Is there something else we need install before this is possible??
I do understand redirection, but this is not what we have in mind.
Thanks to those that would lend a hand.
We use cpanel 6.xx

You can login to WHM, and use a subdomain, instead of a regular domain.
Basically, where WHM asks for a domain, you place: user.yourdomain.com
Then they will have all of the features of a regular account.

This is the perfect solution, and it is simple. You can even have email addresses with the subdomain (user@sub.domain.com). And you will be able to access the subdomain with the prefix www, something not so easily done by creating a subdomain within cPanel. (As I have recently learned on the WHT.) However, you will likely not have access to WHM (WebHost Manager) unless you have a reseller account. If you don't have access to WHM, you can ask your host to do this for you. However, this creates a whole new webhosting account. You'll have to work out with your host as to whether this would be considered to be within the price of your existing account.

Yes, this is true. If you don't have access to WHM, and your host has to fo this for you, you could end up paying for the new account.

Really you shouldn't have to pay for the new account, seeing as it's just an external account of your main one.
Depends on how friendly your host is.

Actually it's an entirely new account. The account will have and use it's own resources, etc... The only thing remotely related to the main account, is the domain name used.

Hi Folks, OK hey great, thanks for your help.
Yes, using WHM worked out great. I was reading something about another IP had to be added. But for what I wanted, this works perfect.
