    personal opinion

    Hello,

If I was you and like previously mentioned by: BeZazz I would get both the .com and the .net
I well over 50+ domains and I have the .com and the .net for most if not all of the domains that I have registered.

    Regards,
    Nick.

.COM is your best option for US markets but if .NET is available you should also register that. You can use URL forwarding from .NET to .COM.

In case your project located in other country, you would like to consider also registering the country top level domain (cTLD) of that country. In example .fr for France or .IS for Iceland.

What do you need the domain for? Business website? Personal website? Reselling?

If its for reselling and you are not very experienced - .COM is your safest bet and you will have the easiest time learning on it.

For a business website, again the .COM is the top choice, especially if you are going to target global audience. In some cases, for local targets, you can go with the country-specific extension (.de , .co.uk, .nl). But its always recommended to choose a name where you can get all the top extensions to secure the brand name of your business.

For a personal website it doesn't really matter. There are a ton of new extensions where you can figure out a clever domain hack or just get some cool combination that you can't normally get in .com (due to most nice names already registered a long ago).

If you are going to have to choose either one or the other I would say to get a .COM one because that always seems to stand out more, one that pretty much everyone has but I also think if you can why not get both.

I would get .com for company/personal website - if its for Network infrastructure as dyrer aimed towards, .net was aimed at computer networks and systems - so likely both if you are a hosting provider of sort.

Personally I think .net is great for our industry, and it's undeniably one of the 3 most-recognized TLDs (.com, .net, .org), so can't go wrong.

    domain name

I will recommend .com because most people who use the web still make the automatic assumption that .com is all thats out there.. it is also easy access and popular in internet world.

If you have to choose between the two and both are available get a .com. Otherwise .net is fine, it's all about the brand that matters.

    Hello,
It won't matter that name extension you select. Both the .com and therefore the .net con perform okay. Several specialists have seen high ranking with each extensions.
