Whois: "No Data Available"
Hi,
I'm definitely not an expert in web hosting and domains, that's why I'm asking for a little help.
I found a domain name that would suit me, and it is already registered. On March 28, the Whois returned me the following information :
If I understood correctly the meaning of the status "ClientHold", the domain expired March 6, 2015 and was not renewed. Since April 7, the website is inactive (my browser doesn't find anything, as a nonexistent website) and Whois queries return me this strange error "No Data Available" :
Is the domain name in redemption?
How can I keep myself informed about the upcoming status?
Thank you,
Ours.

If it's a com/net and you're getting a fail on the whois, that implies the registrar is no longer replying - strange, but not unheard of when they've issued the 'delete' putting the domain into redemption, or they've decided to keep/sell/auction/re-use the domain

The Redemption Period applies to .COM, .NET, and .ORG domains. Other TLDs may have different policies concerning expiration and renewal. The Redemption Period occurs approximately 30 days after a domain has reached its expiration date. For 30 days after the expiration date the domain will be available for renewal during a grace period. After the 30 day grace period, the domain will enter a hold period known as the Redemption Period for another 30 days. To recover the domain during the Redemption Period the registry requires a $ fee. Then, there is a 5 day period where the domain is Pending Delete from the registry.

Whois: "No Data Available"
According to me if who is is not giving any data, that means the domain name has expired and you should be able to purchase it. It is really starnge the issue what you have. My suggestion is try with registrar who has the domain.

GO here : https://forms.icann.org/en/resources...s/service-form
Fill out the complaint, and await ICANN response, you will find the whois should start working again.
