Whenever I have used tables in the past, they seem to only let me insert text etc. about half-way down.

E.g. I insert a table and can only type into it when I click about half-way down.

I would appreciate any help, this has me puzzled.

What software are you using?

Table cells are by default aligned to the middle but only if you have something forcing it to e.g. a spacer image with a large height. Or if you are using a non-standard attribute like height in the <table> tag. Or one column contains much more text than the other.

Place valign="top" in the <td> tags and it should all align to the top of the cells.

Right click, table properties, change the 2 values in the top left to "left+ top."
