But I will say before going to VPS , try asking the host to enable such auth features as adding extra security to login is always good and they might be interested as well if they are concerned about the security.

I'm not TOO worried about someone getting into my cPanel root account. I use an extremely long and random password. Of course, nothing is 100% guaranteed. However, I would like cPanel to at least provide two factor authentication for any accounts that are under root (I mean any of my clients that I have created an account for). If one of my clients gets careless with his email account, for example, and it gets taken over as a result that would mean lots of nasty possibilities, especially with the risk of being banned for spam. So if those clients had to use two factor authorization that would be a lot less worry for me. But for root, you might have to rely on using strong passwords and keeping everything tight on the security end for a while until there is a common solution for two factor authentication on the root level (such as Google). Meanwhile:
- Keep passwords strong and change often
- Don't keep passwords stored in your FTP client- keep them locked up in your pw manager
- Take care not to click on any funny links in email or elsewhere

Hello,One thing to keep in mind is that this 2 factor authentication script is not a complete solution and only marginally increases security. Things like FTP, IMAP, POP3 and WebDAV are still wide open and FTP for example can do just as much damage as cPanel as it can allow an attacker to gain full access to your site. If the attacker has your cPanel credentials, those codes can also be used as the FTP codes to access /home/username/. The fact is that practicing good password policies by creating long complex passwords and changing them frequently is just as good, if not better. Most "exploits" that target websites take advantage of the scripts that the customer is running on the site to gain access such as outdated wordpress plugins and backdoors embedded into pirated scripts. I would also give you a word of advice about getting a VPS, do not get one unless you know how to manage it properly or at least get one with a reputable provider who can manage the service properly. Do not get a VPS purely for the purpose of adding this 2 factor authentication script as it does not increase security by much at all.
