Hello people...

I would like to tell you what is happening to me and would like to know if someone can help me in what can i do...

I have a W2k server with Atwebhost, i dont would like to discuss on this thread that they are terrible or i should have moved from this company many time ago, ... i decided last month to move my server to a The Planet box, sure a good decision. Well i dont know my billing date, some time they charge my credit card on 3th, some time on 22th of month... I thought it is 22th so.. today.

I sent them a mail after last cc charge saying it is my last month with them... I saw their ToS ... it says i should send a fisical letter to them with 30 days antecedence asking service cancellation. I thought it too bad because i am in Brazil... think how much time would it take to arrive... and i did not find the postal address in their website.

Well ... until 15th they did not answer my mail. So i tryed to post a support ticket sayng i was not receiving answers... They just told me i should contact again billing@atwebhost... I done it... without answers...

So today i thought better send them a fax so that they can confirm if my cc will not be charged again... So i done an international call and a staff member told me i need to send a normal letter and he could not do anything about that... I had to call him 2 times to get a fax number... and it is wrong... i dont know if i writen down wrong or if was given me wrong.

I tryed to contact my CC company to see if they can block Atwebhost payments... but they told me i would need make an agreement with Atwebhost, they could not make anything for me.

Well people... what can i do? I already sent another support ticket explaining situation (still waiting an asnwer)... How could i send a letter from Brazil and without an address? This rule seems to be just to charge my CC again. I really dont want to pay for more a month of this poor service.

Report CC stolen/lost is usually the best idea, they will then issue you a new number, of course this is a last resort if/and only-if the company fails to give satisfactory/reasonable response.

Agreed. Making you send in a cancellation letter via snail mail is ridiculous

Report is lost and NOT stolen! If you report it stolen they might want to see your report from the local police station.

Most places say Lost/Stolen - its the same thing. There's normally no police report.

As far as the charges go, I understand you live in Brazil and from working with lots of people in Brazil I can tell you that the cc companies aren't the best to work with But, there's always hope.

Apparently, AtWebHost implemented this snail mail thinga-ma-junk to try and keep billing clients even if they want out and want out now? Does someone smell desperacion?

Anyway, who is your cc bank?

Have a similar issue with a different crap DC. Charged my card after cancelling. I'm getting a new number and I've refused to pay it and told Mastercard to kiss my ass.

Some tips

Hi there,

I'm also in Brazil and can give you more specific advice if you ring me on my mobile, (21) 8838-1856.

BTW, they have different phone #s, seek on old posts on this forum so you can find the right numbers.

Explaining to non-Brazilians: CC companies/banks in Brazil don't allow you to do chargebacks nor refuse/unrecognize a charge. They only give chargeback rights to the seller, not to the buyer. Also, stolen card reports must be accompanied by a police ocorrence (the registration number when you file a complaint with the police) and they ask you lots of questions in a 4 page form. Very shaming for the customer. And this with 170-240% yearly interest they suck from us...

I think i will do that... It is still better tham pay more $150 bucks.

I tryed another email contact... but they seem to read and delete my mails...
