Can I post a thread like this?
Hi WHT,
My idea is to say thanks to several members who I have found to be particularly knowledgeable and helpful to WHT in general.
In particular I have thought of placing and "Top Ten Posters" list with short, positive comments on each member. Moderators would be inlcuded in the list.
Others could comment or post their own "Top Ten."
Good etiquette, bad? Get me flamed?
Thanks.

I am by no means a mod, but I'd say sure...

Thanks citrus.
I was thinking of posting this in the Lounge.
Probably just being paranoid, but would like to get a moderator to respond. How do I do this? I think the "report this post" button is just for reporting problem posts, no?

You could use the report link or email moderators@webhostingtalk.com anytime you need to contact us (email preferred)
I dont see anything wrong with that thread (if its in the lounge) - i do this via the Member Of The MOnth (congrats to Chicken again )...could be a source of flames though -where you should just report it and mods will take care of it

akash is a cool guy/girl. He/she should be on the top ten. I also would like to see something like this. I would definately have some input on your choices.
SWR and Chicken are also cool dudes/dudettes...Dan Sheppard ~ Freelance whatever

Of course you can "post a thread like" that. I just don't know what you would hope to accomplish by it.
Many members are outstanding in many different ways. It's sort of like the host thing in my signature.
So, while you may appreciate some members more than others, it may be totally wrong for another.
Your personal thanks is one thing. But, your personal "Top 10" would be just that. Your personal "Top 10."
So then do we have everyone start a thread with their personal "Top 10?"
I suppose they could. But, again, I don't know what it would be for.
I'm certainly not saying don't do it. I just don't know what would be accomplished by it.There is no best host. There is only the host that's best for you.

SoftWareRevue
Hope to accomplish? Only that it would be a fun thread for the Lounge.
The fact that it would be my personal top ten is a given. Of course, this kind of thread could also get very ugly and be more trouble than it's worth. Which is precisely why I posted the question here first.
Don't know whether I will post it or not, but I do appreciate your input.

I've seen a lot of threads in the lounge that sure don't seem to accomplish anything.

The point of the lounge is, in some ways, 'to revel in being pointless'
Post away! If I were doing something like this, I'd add a notice that they were my personal top ten, others' mileage may vary; and then just let the chips fall where they may. Some folks may decide to add their own personal top ten. It could be fun.☷ Lesli Schauf, TLM Network
