what is the best Search Engine Submission tool?

Hi Yall!

What is the BEST YET INEXPSENSIVE way to submit a website to the search engines?

Is it better to us an onlines submission service for a fee..

OR you use some sort of software?

Thanks!

Submit to ODP (www.dmoz.com) and get a few people to link to your site. That is all you need to do. Avoid automated submission tools or services.

you more than likely don't need to submit to crawler(spider) based search engines.... such as google, altavista, inktomi, alltheweb, lycos etc, because they will generally find your site via links
submit to the following dirs:
dmoz.org (as mentioned)
joeant.com
goguides.org
gimpsy.com

and try and get links to your site from related directories eg if your a host; hosting directories, etc.
or even similar themed sites help.
hopefully your site is fairly well optimized with good content, a good navigation/link setup etc, so spiders wont have problems indexing your entire site.
good luck

search engine traffic is a good mid-long term strategy for your particular biz. Add as much content as you can to your site.

Short term - you may find affiliate programs, and advertising are your best avenues. Try to build some partnerships.

Using a package like that offline to tweak a site is what many SEOs do. However...if you take this software online and start using it at google for instance...you may be found out and have your site removed. Automated software like this is against googles rules.

Just food for thought!

Simon

I used www.mefreesubmissions.com whi hsubmits to loads including google, it doesn't give you a good rating though. Whenever I check my traffic, I have a look at the last 300 visitors, usually they are from forums just clicking on my sig, shamless self-advertising, its the way to go
