Email problems normal? H.ost.M.atix
One of my clients is running a small mortgage business with only 12 email accounts. The host is currently H.o.st.Ma.tix. The website has experienced no problems and is fairly fast. No complaints here (they have their "Silver Plan")
Unfortunately, the EMAIL has been another story. Is this common? They are getting emails hours late or sometimes a day later. This is actually a common problem and is driving them berserk with no solution. They need their email to come in when it's sent, with minimal delay. A few hours delay can make a big difference.
They are running on a Dell server with XP pro via a second tier Road Runner high bandwidth connection. They say the problem is the email server from the host side. I believe H.o.stMa.tix uses RackSpace if I am not mistaken.
Any and all ideas are welcome here. Looking at Pair.com and other local resources. This has gotten to be a major problem.

Well, this is not a popular question to be sure.
I have been informed that HM has moved our site to yet another server with less use. Not sure if this will solve the problem. I just dont remember seeing this problem too often with any past hosts.

What was the question. If all you want to know is if email delays of several hours are more is common I would say no. Not if the email server is working properly.
If you are looking for a recommendation on Pair, I think you will find positive feedback on them here on the forum.

Well, mainly I wanted to know what could be the problem relating to email being delayed like this. HM DOES use Rackspace as their servers. Just at a loss as to who hold the fault here. I dont feel like switching companies but that is what appears to be necessary.
HM has been fine with the site side of things so either there is an email configuration problem or something it up with the servers.
Pair.com did get back with me and they seem good. Then again, I have to admit that HM has been very good at responding. It's just the problems have not gone away.
btw, Thanks for the response, Blue27.

No problem.
When you are judging customer service, only 50% is response time, the other 50% is the time it takes to get the situation resolved.

Indeed. Point well taken.
I actually had already gone with H.ostm.atix and then found this forum on a search for some sort of answer/solution to this problem. After a quick search, I noticed that H.ost.Ma.tix had been banned from here for hiding under various names. It was a bit disconcerting to say the least although the hidden advertising wasnt as bad as some other problems I uncovered with other servers. I saw they had downtime problems near the end of the year but were better these days with another server move.
This email thing has been a fiasco, however, and my client has called me enough times to create a major headache. I wish I had found this forum sooner.
