President Obama Proposes ‘Common Sense’ Rules for Net Neutrality
US President Barack Obama is putting pressure on the Federal Communications Commission to implement “the strongest possible rules to protect net neutrality,” releasing a statement and video on Monday that urges the FCC to ensure that telecos or ISPs can’t act as gatekeepers.

I personally think this is a great move however don't think it will happen because the big telcos have deep pockets and will lobby the big boys in the government to side with them.Respectfully,
Mr. Terrence

"Less than 24 hours later, FCC head Tom Wheeler indicated that he would break from the president's proposed plan, moving in a new direction intended to pacify huge internet providers such as Comcast, AT&T, and Verizon."

Why is it that when politicians continue to vote in the interests of corporations at the expense of the people, more and more citizens stop voting to get them out.
The result of this is that the politically uninformed/ignorant population left behind continues to vote said politicians back in--against their own damn interests.
I think Obama had such a great opportunity to make big changes and motivate those unwilling voters to help him in rallying against getting rid of all these old, paid off geriatric politicians in congress (which wouldn't be hard with their single digit approval rating).
What a damn waste. Being that I'm not American, I hope for the sake of the United States that they make a better choice in their next election.

LOL... American people made an excellent choice... twice. Unlike your country, Obama can't just ride in and do whatever he wants. Things take their course. Just because you are outside and don't understand our political system, does not make it bad. Same as some who live here and don't get what they want so they cry and kick like two-year-olds.
The more recent news on this topic is on point... now it seems the internet will be reclassified as an "internet utility".Windows 10 to Linux and Mac OSX: I'm PARSECs better than you. Eat my dust!!!

I should have been clearer about what I meant, but you're assuming that based on my comment, the figurehead of my country can simply just "ride in and do whatever he wants"--but that's not at all the case. I'm also not stating that Obama shouldn't have been voted in because the alternative would have likely been worse (McCain during his first election and Romney during his second). I'm referring specifically to congress, being that they pass the laws.
And the President can pass laws past congress if he wants to--and has been a few times due to he lack of cooperation from congress via 'executive order'. It's why he's fallaciously being mislabelled as "King Obama" and some sort of a Socialist/Communist, dictator/monarch by the Conservative party.
This most recent election had the lowest voter turnout in over 72 years (36.4%), yet the party of the minority (the Conservative party) secured even more seats in congress even though they already had the majority since taking the seats from the Liberal majority congress in 2010.

A congress with an almost single digit approval rating (15%) paired with a midterm election with a 'record' low voter turnout with people complaining of the state of their country's political system is the entire reasoning behind my comment.
By the way, the U.S. political system isn't that hard to figure out. Politics isn't meant to be complicated or it'd be ostracizing citizens from getting involved and knowing who to vote for and why to vote for them.
