VPS under DDoS attack - Provider Says against TOS
Hello,
our vps is experiencing a DDoS attack this time.
DDoS Stats: 20901888 packets / 42 bytes per packet / 10206 flows
all this days i thought our vps provider is fully responsible for protecting us from DDoS. but the case seems different.
what they says is, we can only protect you from small scale DDoS attacks and help with re-routing your IP or termination depending on the severity of the situation.
further stated,
we recommend a permanent solution in order to avoid additional costs or termination of your account
so is this the case with every vps provider

Some providers are more willing than others to endure and support you through regular DDOS attacks, since it doesn't only affect your VPS or Server, it affects their entire network if the attack is big enough... but the end result is pretty much the same, they have to null-route your IPs in order to prevent the DDOS attack from affecting their other clients on the same network.
Uptime Monitor - Minimize your downtime by being the first to know about it!
Blacklist Monitor - Are any of your IPs or Domains blacklisted? Find out before it gets to affect you or your clients.

Depending on the size and type of attack, $500 may or may not be expensive. Depending on what kind of service you run, you might want to consider a remote DDoS protection service, that would make it possible to remotely protect your current VPS from DDoS attacks, because that option could be more affordable than the $500 that your VPS provider is asking for. The other option would be to use a hosting provider that offers native DDoS protection for a lower price.

Did you try looking into what's causing the attack? tracking down the cause might be the solution for your problem.
Respectfully,
Mr. Terrence
