If I type iptables --flush would that lock me out of my server?

I was trying to delete all the old rules then the server seemed to go dead. Surely if there aren't any rules in it then everyone should be able to access my server?

I'm new so be kind please.

hmm, I take it by the number of views (+30 minutes) either I'm so dumb no-one would answer it or no-one knows if this would screw my server!

Depends on iptables default policy. If it is configured to REJECT then yes, iptables flush will lock you out

Who is your provider? You better ask them for some help, or learn iptables a little more on a local machine before playing with it on a remote one.

Well it's all back up now. Definetly won't be doing that again remotely anyway.
