Google Domains?
Hello Everyone,
Did anyone catch the announcement that Google is entering the Domain business? Apparently they are Beta-testing the service as I write this.
I'm trying to get an 'Invite Code'.
Is anyone currently involved in the Beta-testing of this service?
What are your thoughts on the new program?
Here's a link to an article:

Here's a link to Google Domains:
http://domains.google.com/about/
Thanks!
J.

I'm also waiting for an invite code. I wonder how long it takes until we receive one.

A little scary for domain registrars. If they include Google Apps with email as part of the package, it'll be hard to resist considering it's completely premium now. Free (or next to free) privacy is offered by Internet.bs and NameCheap, GoDaddy might suffer. I'm still using the free Google Apps grandfathered down and it's actually perfect for my needs.

Google may also offer Adwords voucher with every domain as freebie. That will help Google to attract new customers for domains as well as for adwords campaign.

The thing with Google Apps is, they can offer their old free package for domain registrars but they can cap the user count to something like 5. Attractive for very small businesses and blog owners.
Also, remember the not so popular Google websites? If they can host that for free then they should be able to provide a peanuts hosting package as well.

Not true... I had email with them and had to leave due to NO support. It was terrible. And I even had the pay model (think it was $5 a month)... support was terrible there!
One small issue but I can't get it fixed. No thanks...
With Microsoft domains (that was killed) so I'll move to office365 at some point.Windows 10 to Linux and Mac OSX: I'm PARSECs better than you. Eat my dust!!!

So you think their products work 100% and never have issues... but then say "Some people just have some problems with them".
That does not make any sense...
I agree with you that you don't need support often... but when you do, there is none to be found. Unless a very simple issue that you can ultimately find online someplace.
And yes, many companies have terrible support, but we are not talking about them. Several companies have great support, but we are not talking about them either.Windows 10 to Linux and Mac OSX: I'm PARSECs better than you. Eat my dust!!!

This actually looks really interesting, $12 a year as the picture says is quite nice, a bit more than other places but still a good price.

Waiting to see what they offer for $12.. might not be a good deal at all.
This is what their site says:
For an additional cost, you’ll enjoy secure, reliable hosting, customizable web templates
So pay extra for...
I will more than likely stick with Amazon or try Microsoft Azure (Microsoft 365 is great... for free)Windows 10 to Linux and Mac OSX: I'm PARSECs better than you. Eat my dust!!!

In regards to the opening thread, in my opinion the quality and the stability of Google Domain services is what will encourage others to bring their domain portfolio over. Is having a good price point important? Of course, but those who are serious in the domain industry put a heavy emphasis on getting good support 24/7 and making sure that the dns interface is intuitive and easy to work with. What surprises me about this new service is that it took this long for Google to finally get into the domain industry. I guess all of us will have to wait and see.
There are many places you can go to Make an Email Address that is reliable and secure.
Check our registration prices if you are looking to Buy A Domain Name with 24/7 service that's second-to-none.

This means smaller companies will have less of a chance for business, with a name like google selling domains everybody will go there. :/

Really, google has no place in domain name registration. Most customers will still prefer to use other registrars. They need support.
