What to use instead of Kazzaa?
A friend of mine said she uses Kazzaa Lite for downloading files. She likes the way she don't have to give out her entire harddrive to be able to use it. As far as I know Kazzaa is spyware and should be avoided. Is the same true for the Lite version? What other softwares can she use?

Kazaa Lite does not have the Spyware included. It has a dummy file in it to *fool* Kazaa into thinking the Spyware is still there. From what I have heard it's safe to use...

Can't completely confirm this, but I think kazaalite was created an avg. Joe who was sick of all the spyware, so I'd say this statement is 99% true. I use KazaaLite for educational purposes and my adaware doesn't find anything when I do a scan.

Yeah I remember reading about it. Kazaa Lite was created by a guy that liked Kazaa, and decided to take the app and remove all the spyware, which Kazaa wasn't too happy about.
A well-reasoned assumption is very close to fact.

It does seem to be spyware free, though I've never felt it was something safe enough to install on any computer I use. I suppose with any of these file sharing programs you're going to be running the risk of the law, as well as anything that might come down the pipe. The spyware element seems the least of the possible concerns

You can always disable the spyware, and the filesharing part with others.

Kazaa is great, I have the normal Kazaa though because I don't much care about what goes on my computer. To Lazy to care.

Kazaa Lite has no spyware. If you run Ad-aware ( http://www.lavasoft.de/ ), you will find that it doesn't detect it as spyware.
To get it, go to http://www.kazaalite.tk (no I am NOT advertising!)
Also -- I think Direct Connect has spyware in it, I read that somewhere.

Tell her to go to the store, lots to select there, virus free and all the tracks are complete!
Or if she has a Mac, she can buy tracks for $1 at the iTunes Music Store...I mean why steal when you can buy right :p

Do not install the kazaa lite host file thingy - will cause more problems then help. Also spyware, scumware on your pc doesn't bother you? I guess you like things that slow down your pc and serve popup ads? It takes all kinds...
