Comparative Worth - What is your opinion?

Hi, I am currently doing a minor study on Comparative Worth and was wondering how everybody feels about the subject?

    What is it?
It is the basis stating that: Pay for one job should be more equal to pay with another job.
E.G. A nurse gets paid less than a truck driver.
Note*The idea that women are mostly nurses and men are mostly truck drivers does play a minor role but is not the big picture of comparative worth.

I've been searching around lately and found that the subject is very hard to find information on and if you have any extra links that you think can help woo me in either direction, would be gladly appreciated.

My Stance(Role, I have no opinion really but I'll play Devils Advocate ):
I am against Comparative Worth. People have worked hard to get to where they are and just because one does work such as a nurse does not mean that that person should recieve the same pay as a truck driver who has a greater deadline to accomplish almost every day.

I would love to hear what WHT has to say about comparative worth and what they believe it has. If you have any links I would also greatly appreciate it . Thanks for replying and please no jokers , this is a serious debate and I am taking a survey about what the majority of people say.

Please also state if you are a guy or girl when you post your thoughts as sex does play a major role in your opinions on comparative worth.

Actually Truck drivers get paid less than nurses.
The average nurse gets anywhere form $18 to $24 an hour, and the average truck driver gets about $12 to $16.
It's is all about demand. Some cities need nurses more badly than others, and therefore pay higher rates to get them. Nurses also need more formal education than a truck driver. (Not to say truck drivers aren't smart, they are just smart in a different way)

What most people do, is find jobs or careers they like, then
reasearch which ones pay enough for them to live the lifestyle they chose. Then they persue that career.
Let's face it, it doesn't take much to be a dishwasher, and I hope people don't go thinking they should get paid the same as the restraunt manager.

I can tell you I have always held "non gender definable" jobs, and I have always recieved my rate of pay based on the job specs itself, and never got less pay because of gender.
    The jobs I've held:
Stable (horses) manager (still my favorite job - know why? - "because horse **** doesn't pretend to be anything else")
    Pizza maker / asst manager
    Animal control
    Gas Station attendant
    Shop Assembler/worker
    Electronics Quality Control
    Shop Foreman
    Truck Driver
    Customer Service

Now you tell me, what gender am I?
    DANG DANG! DANG!!™
I know ***** ripped off everybody else, but they wouldn't do it to me.
