what is with this ..supercomputers in under developed nations ?
http://www.hinduonnet.com/thehindu/2...2502481600.htm
The Supercomputing Education and Research Centre of the Indian Institute of Science here has commissioned what is arguably the most powerful single-platform Linux computing facility in the country: an Altix 3000 system from Silicon Graphics Systems India (SGI).
I mean does India really need this ?

nothing new.....India has build a supercomputer already before. PARAM
USA held the monopoly and sold their CRAY supercomputer on conditions that it wasnt to be used for defence and nuclear arms research.....it was also very highy priced.
India and Japan built their own supercomputers and as a result USA was forced to slash its price.
