Hey...I'm in Missouri and didn't feel a thing...then again I am on the west side of the state and the quakes are more prone on the east. Still sucks for you though.

I'm three/four states away, and it got me out of bed... your on the other side of the state it was located in... and you never felt it?
[edit] now they are saying it was a 4.5 in northeast alabama around huntsville.0

Nope...didn't feel a thing, but as you said, they confirmed it was in Alabama so really nowhere near me.
Even if there was one, after last night it probably wouldn't have woke me up anyway.0

I heard that it was centered near Fort Payne, Alabama... dunno how close huntsville and Fort Payne are though.
I also heard it was felt as far north as Kentucky (didn't say specifically where in Kentucky). It was all the rage on Miss 103 (102.9) this morning.
While I was in RTC San Diego, one hit about 100 miles from the RTC Base (4.8 on the scale). Let me tell ya... this good ole boy from Mississippi bout crapped his pants, too. It was 1 am, sleeping soundly... I hear a "BOOM" (sounded like a large firework going off) which startled me awake. All of the sudden, the damn metal garbage cans in the barracks started rattling/shaking.
We all hit the deck quick about that time, running into each other, trying to figure out wth to do. We were told by the CC to go out in the courtyard, so we did. He liked to got booted from the Navy for telling us to do that...
Anyway... if you've never been in one, you will never forget the first one you get a chance to ride out! I'll take a tornado anyday, over an earthquake!0

[useless facts] I went to school in Southern Illinois. The last year I was there some nut predicted a huge quake for the area. There was lots of talk about the geological makeup of the area and the effect a quake would have. Because of the underlying bedrock any small quake in that area will be felt for very long distances. need less to say, there was no devastating quake, just lots of wasted money spent on preparations.more useless information

I remember our last actual earthquake, it was a 6.8, and it's epicenter was less 100 miles from where I was. It was cool feeling, although it sucked to be on the 3rd floor of a really old school building.
