I need help using bandwidth!
Hello,
I'm not going to go into the details, but essentially here is the deal: I have access to an 'unlimited' bandwidth reseller account, with '100 gb of space' (in a server that has a 50gb hard drive), which will be available until the 3rd when the monthly renewal fee comes up (which I can't imagine is going to be paid!).
The service received with this account has been terrible, and it has been requested if anything can be done about them to do something.
Does anybody have any large files / medium files with high volume that they would be interested in placing on the server (free of course)?
They must be legal and non-adult, I don't want to break ToS. I just want to use as much bandwidth as possible!
Thanks for any help!» OmegaSphere - http://www.omegasphere.net/

If you have ssh access:
wget http://ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/lin...i386-disc5.iso &
wget http://ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/lin...i386-disc4.iso &
....
....
If not, then just manually fill it up with redhat ISO's. They're big, free, and legal!

Oooh. Evil. Start a Debian mirror too . I wonder if I can get the server to push over 400gb... I think their data centre charges $20/gb (!!!) for overage.
Besides, that wget could be started from a CGI» OmegaSphere - http://www.omegasphere.net/

Yep! And if you want to be really evil: after you get one ISO uploaded post a link to it here, explain the situation, and ask everyone to download it at least once!

rofl
hahaha, that's so mean
Find large compressed movie files and uncompress them!
ooo, I know...giant bitmaps!
Maby you could find a way to get the server to download from itself!

wait for a new linux distro to be released and story posted in slashdot then immediately add a comment linking to the ISO on your server.
Gone.

setting up mirrors of GNU and some distros is a good choice and you are not going to waste bandwidth and space - it will go for good!

You can make a PHP script to FTP from one Username on the reseller account to another Username on the same account, just set it in an infinite loop and lol thats it......That would fill up space...just keep copying the file.

Make sure you read their TOS carefully and don't violate it, or all the fun will be for nothing.

I've got a VCD in mpeg (legal, no porn or anything) that is about 1.4 gig total that could upload and could find A LOT of downloads to get if you're interested. ;-) You could also find a conversion program to .avi on the server to take up a few gig easily!

lemme just capture some home movies to RAW avi (2+ gig for like 4 min) then upload it somehow, and renamed it matrix2reloaded.tar and u will get pounded like crazy....be sure to post the link in several forums....not hard at all...
better yet, just capture the blue screen (vcr) or just plain static (forget to put in your input) to raw avi, then upload and rename.
