where is mail stored, by default, with exim?


does anyone know where mail is stored by default with exim (no control panel)

also, what is the command to start exim?

Did you even attempt to read the _very_ detailed Exim documentation? exim.org for documentation & users mailing list.

i did look through but couldn't find where it says when mail is stored.

im guessing thats its stored as /home/<<username>>/inbox

or something like that

if so, will users see their inbox file when they ftp into their home directory, because if they do ain't that bad??? cause they could delete it by accident.

He probably prefers to get a quick answer here. Possibly one with "tips from the field" included which you wouldn't find in the manual. That's what communities are about...

Yes by default it will store in in their home dir either in mbx or maildir format. You can specify the spool directory though. I use exim with mysql and have it store the mail in /var/spool/<domain name>/<first letter of username>/<username>/ but it is also for 15,000+ users.
