This is one reason I liked bn3, but you do have to use their nameservers and point your domain to your IP address. Unfortunately they only allow 20 boxes now. Hmmm.

Are the problems only with new everyone.net accounts, or are people having problems with their current accounts?

    Question

I saw in a post by BC on another forum mention of domain free web e-mail providers (allows one to offer visitors free e-mail with your own domain). He mentioned I-P and Everyone.net (thanx for the tip BC). Previously, I had only known of outblaze (which powers I-P). My 2 questions are:
    1. Are there any other major free providers of portal services for one's own domain (e-mail, chat, message board, etc.) out there?

    2. Which, in your opinion, is the best?

At this moment, I would not recommend everyone.net either. Despite numerous attempts over the last couple of weeks to set up branded (and non-branded) services, everyone.net is still not able to see the couple of domains that we've been trying to set up for people. We set up a special testing account for the sole purpose of figuring out exactly why they can't seem to do basic lookups on existing names, and are continuing to work that throughout the weekend. It's a bit odd, since we have set up mail with them in the past, and those worked fine, first time. There are also numerous others indicating the same issues. So for right now, I'd look elsewhere.

Bigmailbox is good, and has given us no trouble thus far when we've set it up for people.

From what I've read around the web a bit, it appears that new accounts are affected but established ones aren't. And this is not to say that the non-branded (domain.mail.every1.net) doesn't work, since it does. It appears to be restricted to using the "upgraded" (@domain.com) plugins only.

    Hrm,

We are partners with everyone.net and have had no issues whatsoever with them, and we have numerous clients using their services. I highly recommend them.

"No issues with them whatsoever"? Vlad, one of your own customers is having problems with everyone.net right now. Or do you not recognize the mail you wrote that he provided to them?

    ____
I just doublechecked and your DNS points to everyone.net as its supposed
to. I am not sure what the problem is, but everything looks solid on our
    end.

It is not an isolated incident. This covers the same issues that others are facing, based on conversations with other hosts and reading through their support area: everyone.net, for whatever reason, is having trouble even though domain records are properly set up. For that reason, I will certainly not recommend them for branded email or other services until they can indicate why they are so inconsistent. When domtools can look up a domain record and see that mail is to be handled by sitemail.everyone.net, it makes one wonder why everyone.net is unable to do a proper lookup. And once again, for anybody who missed it: this issue seems to affect NEW setups of BRANDED services only.

Here are some more URLs of other major free e-mail providers for one's own domain :-

    ZapZone Network - http://www.zzn.com
ZZN, powered by Commtouch, provides instant and customisable web-based email to websites for free.

    CommTouch - http://www.commtouch.com
Providing free branded Email software and web-based Email services; clients include FortuneCity, About.com, IGN and Looksmart.

    Instant Portal - http://www.i-p.com
Web-based service powered by OutBlaze that offers free, customisable e-mail (user@your_name.i-p.com) at no cost.

    MauiMail.com - http://www.mauimail.com/
Free email addresses with your domain in the email address.

Please note that these services could differ in several respects. Also, some of these providers don't offer you the freedom to use your domain name exclusively.

    Hope this helps.

To sum it up, they were wondering about turbosport.com's serivce.

    Exclamation

I must say, the free domain e-mail providers are now either getting so overloaded (a la Everyone.net style) or getting increasing amounts of ads (BigMailBox - check Sitepoint or FreeWebSpace where there are other topics debating this) that I would highly advise withholding plans on this for now. Unless you have GBs of space and bandwidth, then you have to rely on outsourcing your e-mail needs.
