50/50 chance of surviving another century
The human race has only a 50/50 chance of surviving another century, says Sir Martin Rees the Astronomer.

Do you think Sir Martin is correct?

Short Answer: Yes
With the growing problems with terrorism, soon to be fuel crisis, pollution the world faces many up an coming problems.
However, I'd say the odds are closer to 75% chance we make it, 25% we don't. But that wouldn't make as much publicity would it?

nope. im not sure how much of a chance the rest of our planets inhabbitants will have of surviving at the rate we kill them. True we do a good job of killing ourselves and the future is not stunningly bright but i think we will last out a few more millenia.

How exactly did he calculate the 50/50? I bet he made that on the spot just to promote the book. This book won't teach us anything new. He could've put his research and knowledge into better use.

Martin Rees is an expert on this subject how?
This is a question similiar to "Is the glass half full or half empty".
No matter what opinions are rendered, "half full" or "half empty", they don't change the amount in the glass....
