hmmmm, i read the first couple of lines... First of all, Notorious BIG is dead. I m not to keen on making fun of dead people. Second, he was married to one of the hottest women on this planet. Just remember that rap music is the number one selling music of its time, and the only true form of american music.......

I rap well and
I am a positive reflection of my hometown. Not only am I a sexually deviant,
misogynistic, immoral, wealthy, male prostitute, but I also sit on the board
of directors of the organization that governs others of my kind.

Whilst making fun of dead people isnt exactly the greatest thing on the planet I think the parody highlights the distate many people have of such lyrics. If people write so called lyrics like that then they can be expected to be judged by them.--

Lots of musicians (yes, rappers too) are dead, case. Lots of of them still get the mickey taken out of them.
Hehe... married to one of the hottest women on the planet but all he can talk about is how much money he has and the women he's slept with. Sounds like he was out of the 'ghetto' for quite a while. I take it you can take the boy out of the ghetto, but you can't take the ghetto out of the boy?

rock is not really music and it doesn't take a lot of skill to do (Other then play a musical instrument which many rappers can do) .

Isn't playing an instrument prerequisite for playing any sort of music? (other than singing, which requires some form of skill in any case)
Perhaps 'some' rock... but not 'all' rock.
Or do you mean composing? Lots of great pianists (for example) these days just play classical compositions and don't create their own stuff.
Pop music is easy in both respects - hell you don't even need an instrument or the ability to sing. You just read what others have regurgitated from what's been done ten times before and get some marketing gurus to propogate it.
Anyway, the point was how funny that 'translation' was - not the validity of certain forms and styles of music.

shyne, that makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. The whole point is it does take skill to play an instrument and it doesnt to stand up and repeat a load of childish rubbish without any positive meaning.
I take it you can take the boy out of the ghetto, but you can't take the ghetto out of the boy?
Well said.
The translation was absolutely hilarious, brilliant parody.--

richy,
Why don't we turn rock stars into any person who plays an instrument?
Rap is rubbish to you, because you can't relate or you just don't understand idea behind it.

Not sure what you mean by the first comment, yeah people who play instruments have skill, it doesnt matter what type of music it is as long as its music.
Cut an pasting other tunes whilst saying your own lyrics over the top isnt exactly art. Its not rubbish to me for that reason, you dont know me so you cant say what I can or cannot relate to but if you want to know why i think its rubbish I'll say so.
1- there is very little talent or creativity involved, its like these street racers who think NO2 makes them the best racers on the planet. Sprinting a 1/4 mile does not make you a racer it makes you no better then the brick they could have put on the gas pedal. Same goes for rap to some extent.
2- the 'message' it puts across, glorifying that kind of attitude is quite frankly pathetic. Plenty of people, myself included, started out at the bottom of the pile in life but we were born with respect for ourselves and other people and fough and worked damn hard. Its terrible to see people blaming the result of their own laze on society and glorifying the kind of message put across in that song. No form of music is really exempt from negative messages, but it is prevalent to such a high degree in rap.
Seriously for a second, and im not having a go at you or anyone who like rap, read those lyrics, the original ones. Read the message thats sending out. Why do ya think someone who started out with nothing in life and made themselves into something would think when they read that. Do ya think thats something I would approve of my kids thinking? Thats its alright to be sexist? That monogomy is only for people with rich parents?
Ok thats my view, explain honestly what that music means to you. I'm very interested to see the difference. You by inference suggest you understand it, relate to it, do you think that attitude is correct? Just because you are born in a world of drugs, crime or whatever is not any excuse for adopting it yourself nor for advocating it in others.--

Richy, your talking like its easy..
Wake up one day with nothing, then the next day your living great.
So you actually think people that live in bad places don't try to get out?
Are you saying a mother who works 2 jobs with 4 kids is just doing it for the hell of it?
Are you saying people who rap about their life, are ignorant?
Theres another world outside of your world Richy.. You can try to "ignore" it if you want.. but it still exists.
I can relate to alot of things most rappers put out that makes since.. Its still music.. A different type of music, but still music.
Some people are ignorant.. Rap about selling drugs like its good.. Thats dumb, but some rap about what they had to do, or did to get where their at now.
And for the record.. ALL RAP ISN'T THE SAME... Alot of artists talk about different things.. Seems like your putting down every rap artist.Money is the root of all evil. So if you don't want to go crazy, give it all to me

richy I do not expect you to understand why rap is good music. See, you take the lyrics of the songs literally and hang on every single word. A lot of people do the same when they hear the Eminem songs (remember the protests?). They take the words literally and hang on it. They don't understand the humor/message behind these words and I do not expect them to, because they haven't lived in a similar environment that the rappers did (rap is like another culture which some people don't understand).
Why people can relate to rap? Because a lot of the things that rappers talk about is real and you can easily see by looking around your neighborhood (unless you live in an all white neighborhood or a rich neighborhood).

Not all rappers talk about guns and violence.. It seems to some people if a rapper says one thing about a gun, its bad... Most of the time their using a gun for an example.. Not actually saying they kill people with it.
Richy, I said your in a different world.. I said it because the way you were going on about how ignorant they are, which lead me to believe you had no clue what you were talking about like you didn't know that type of stuff existed.Money is the root of all evil. Actually the sounds that Rap uses behind their lyrics takes very little talent to create. They are mostly electronic reproductions of various instruments. Learning how to push a key that sounds like a guitar is hardly what I would call a skillful guitar player. Add an electronic drum machine to that and you have instant rap *music*.
While Rap may require some small degree of talent to perform, it requires very little talent to produce that background noise.

Rap has never been about the background noise. While it sounds better with beats it doesn't require anything complicated.
