Lots of reaons:
- lower pricing on their domains (even if it's just a few cents)
- better support with some registrars
- better/more features with registrars
- consolidating domains

Yup, a lot of people register their first domain and then come here.
Soon they realise their chosen company are not the best.
Maybe they can get a better price elsewhere, maybe they want to move to a company that doesn't try to keep your domain or not give you full control over it.
Soon after I arrived at these forum's I moved all of my domains to another company where I can enjoy cheaper renewal fees and more importantly a full control panel that allows me to change anything on my domain's without havint o e-mail their support people and asking them.
If you're happy with the service you are getting then stick with who you have chosen - if not look around, there are plenty of good companies out there who can offer you better.

I think there are quite a few people that also register domains thru their hosts and then realize later they prefer to have full control or decide to leave the host and want to take the domain with them.

This is my situation. I renewed my domain after it expired, but Yahoo! Domains never reactivate my account, and I don't know if they ever will. Can I still transfer my domain to another registrar? Is that going to solve the problem?
