Do you mean a piece of software for managing gaming servers? There are several options, depending on the game. For CS servers, try Exodus (www.exodus.tk) or PHPRcon from server.counter-strike.net. Unreal 2003 comes with a built-in web based interface with makes it easy.

It would be no different to a normal CMS then. As in another thread today, I mentioned try PHP nuke (www.phpnuke.org) which seems a fairly popular choice.

I did a search for "gaming" on www.hotscripts.com and it gave about half a dozen results that sound exactly what you're looking for.

If you look at the cached version of www.metrogamers.com it mentions that the license cost is $150.
Have you tried www.vortexportal.net and www.vgprojects.com?

IMHO either make one yourself or don't bother. Portals put the sites to SHAME!!!

i am in the process of making exactly that. the code works fine, some bugs in deleting things but apart from that works pretty good.
its php/pgsql. you are welcome to the source and to finish it yourself. all i ask is that you don't sell it.
it has
news posting w/comments(slashdot style)
review posting w/comments
guide posting w/comments
but its for a whole site network - you administer unlimited sites from 1 control panel and assign staff to sites to add/edit news/reviews/guides and user comments.
PM me if you want the buggy source. The ID fields need to be converted to SERIAL datatype and some queries changed a little to make the code better.Gone.

my thoughts
phision your script sounds great. I would like a copy if you are sending it. My only question is if it will work with MySql?
Arc - PHPNuke is the most common CMS. Others cost money... you can always hire someone(s) to write it for you.
Scott - Portals are great if they are run well. A good portal needs to be unique in content, style and lots of activity. As long as they are well maintained these types or portals benefit everyone Why should people reinvent the wheel if it always does the same thing? It doesn't make sense.
