So it's up to you if you want to use an unsupported configuration or not.
Did you try this and can confirm that both don't support any SSD's??
Because I am receiving the exact opposite response from my DC (using only DELL machines)

We use Samsung 840 Pro - the intels are supposed to be more reliable but the Samsungs are faster

Thanks a lot guys, what worries me the most though is GC an TRIM how efficient will it function under a hardware controller, and how long does GC actually take, is it super fast ? or as slow as defragment a hard drive ! (which could take hours or ages depends!)

I dont want to see dead slow speeds !

TRIM commands aren't supported on any Dell PERCs. They don't support JBOD SAS or SATA. A single disk container is marked as RAID 0.

The LSI firmware for the cards supports JBOD, but YMMV in getting that to work.

That said, we've been running overprovisioned Intel SSD's in Dell R510, R610, R710, R620 with Dell PERC H700 and H710. Their GC works fine. You're not ruined if you can't do TRIM.

We do avg writes of 40MB/sec and peaks of 152MB/sec. Nothing crazy but they do the job for MySQL.
