How to enable ping on server 2008

I have windows 2008 server running with hyper-v. I have added rules on server firewall on both inbound and outbound. But still i am unable to ping the ips of vm. But vm is up and running. Do you have any idea how to achieve it ?

Is it only the ping that is not working? If so, check the steps again

If other services are inaccessible then it might be due to network settings in hyperv or virtual machine.

Whether we need to do this on hosted server or on vm ?

The settings needs to be done in VM.

If entire network is down in the VM, then it might be due to the host server settings. To confirm, the firewall in VM can be disabled to rule out any configuration issues in it.

Go to Start >> Administrative Tools >> Windows Firewall with advanced security >> Inbound Rules >> File and Printer Sharing (Echo Request - ICMPv4-IN) >> right click and see if its enabled or disabled.
