Any "Seinfeld" fans around? Have always loved the show, even way back as a teenager. My wife and I bought tickets to his show last Friday. To be blunt - I laughed my ass off the whole time. He took some time after the show to chat with the audience. It was about 10 minutes. Thought that was pretty cool, actually. Actually the whole show was surreal.
I'm also curious what others think the 'reunion' would be a part of. He claims it's not the Super Bowl. Any other guesses?
Jerry Seinfeld’s “secret project” — the one he alluded to during a Reddit AMA earlier this month — is in fact a reunion of “Seinfeld,” the comedian said today.
Nice. Always been a Seinfeld fan too...and I always respect stars/artists that engage their crowd after a show and not run out the backdoor avoiding everyone. It builds a lifelong impression of that person. William Shatner for years avoided people and hating being Captain Kirk. Years later he realized he had to embrace his fans. The fans are what made "Kirk" a legend for 30+ years.
Jerry and Jason have done well. Elaine second....and Michael...well...all that bad publicity years ago, he needs to be re-invented. Hopefully that's settled down and they can give us the comedy they use too.
Funny...for a show based on nothing, it was still intelligent. We need some flying through the door comedy intelligent comedy. Today's stuff doesn't cut it...starting to hate tv again. A Fraser reunion would also be nice since I always watched them back to back.
All of the QA containers' names on my dev box reference Seinfeld terminology -- mulva, moops, yadda3, hightalker, lowtalker, mimbo, vandelay, newman, etc. Guess you could say I've had some problems letting go of the show.
Frasier was another one I watched over & over again. Still watch it when I can. Think my two favorites were the one where Daphne teaches Niles to dance, and the plumber/bullies that the brothers went to school with.
You're right though. TV is starting to go downhill again. Remember when the Food Network first launched and people actually taught the viewer how to cook something?
Nowadays it's all about somebody winning something, or getting eliminated, taking the walk of shame, burning their clothes, being sent home, fights, and .... Honey Boo Boo ... our country's broke as hell but thank God we can afford to keep that show on the air.
Was watching T.V. Land or MeTV -- one of them -- a couple nights ago, and a commercial came on for Hogan's Heroes reruns, where the announcer proclaimed it was "The Original Show About Nothing" ... but wasn't it a show about a German WWII POW Camp? Compared to Seinfeld, that's still something. I believe "Friends" also tried to place themselves in the same category once. No way.
I even miss the cheesy shows of the 80's/90's. "Perfect Strangers", "Cheers" (probably why I loved Frasier so much), "Growing Pains", "Who's The Boss?", and even ALF, to a much lesser extent. You just don't get shows like that any more.
