I have Windows 7 & 8 DVDS but the laptop where I want to install is without DVD facility. I have 16GB USB. As I know, first I need to create image file of DVD then from that image file create bootable USB. I tried few softwares but "BurnAware" stuck when 87% is done while creating image and one other offers only 300mb image file on free software.
Can anyone tell me good free softwares to create image file and then other one to make USB bootable from that image file?
I created ISO image with Magic ISO Maker and then tried to use one to copy ISO image to USB but it says invalid ISO file however file extension is .iso Don't know what's problem in this. It took almost 30 minutes to create that 3.72gb ISO file.
Although the article which "CircuitoX" linked is great to do this but I already had downloaded Windows 7 Professional from digitalrivercontent.net and then I used rufus.v1.4.3 to covert that ISO image to USB drive.
Windows 7 Professional is already installed and running at 3rd bootable partition of my laptop alongwith XP on another partition.
For windows 7 there is a tool from microsoft - windows 7 usb dvd tool. You will need to have an .iso of your original windows installation disk.
As for windows 8, You can run the update tool which will download an ISO and use the built-in option to setup usb installer.
You mean if I wish to install Windows 8, I install Win 7 (which I already did) and then run that update tool and it will be upgraded to Windows 8, right? Will that require any key? I don't have, I just downloaded ISO image from internet. And what's that tool url?
I just downloaded Windows 7 Professional ISO image, copied to USB and installed Win 7 Prof and its working fine. Can I upgrade this installation of Windows 7 Professional to Windows 8 without any key by any upgrade tool? Or I must need any key?
