Question Help with security in RDP

    Hello ppl.

I'm planning to get a dedicated server from OVH(Soyoustart.com) install windows and create accounts for me, some friends and a couple of clients(maybe).

I had 1 rdp account in the past but it have a lot of problems(most of all because user abuse) so i want to learn the best security practices in RDP.

i have some questions if you have previous experinces with RDP:

1)what programs must be installed by default?
    2)most annoying problems in RDP?
3)any security issues that you remember?
4)could you be a security tester of my low end RDP?

    Sorry for the bad english.

I'll suggest you to use windows firewall and accept RDP only for your IP.

If you want, I have some RDP exploit that I can test on your server.
I'm not a native English speaker and my writing and (even) understanding of the language is far, far away from fluent.

    Hi,

I suggest you to change the listening RDP port in dedicated server, secure RDP account(s) with the strong passwords and enable Windows firewall.

    Thanks,

Microsoft's Remote Desktop Protocol is very secure by default.

There are currently 2 major exploits that are present in Microsoft's Remote Desktop Protocol that effects every Microsoft OS that has Remote Desktop Enabled.

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-gb/s...letin/ms12-020
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-gb/s...letin/ms13-029

I would suggest that you install the 2 Windows Updates above. to fix these Exploits. As one is a Exploit and a Remote Overflow Buffer in the Core of Remote Desktop.

As other people have suggested above you need to make sure that you do the following things regular to Secure a Windows Operating System.

    1, Keep Strong Passwords
    2, Keep Windows Firewall Enabled
    3, Install a Anti Root Kit ( AntiVirus )
4, Make sure you Install Regular Windows Updates
