Website redundancy
After a certain host's blowout I was wondering if this would work.
Disclaimer: All companies are hypothetical and are used for illustration purposes only.
One would register their domain name at NoDaddy. You would then change nameserver 1 to point the domain to shared hosting at HostCroc. You would of course set up your website there.
For nameserver 2 you would set that to point to shared hosting at GatorWeb and copy your original website to the second shared hosting company. Each shared hosting account is in a different data centre.
If the first shared hosting company (HostCroc) had an issue your visitors could still access your site because your second hosting comapny would still be operational.
An issue I see would be keeping the 2 sites synchronized. What would be the best way to do that? Am I missing something in my example?
What about your own mini CDN with a third or fourth website copy on other hosts. How would you then load balance your visitors?
What's your view on this idea?
Which reptile host do you prefer?
