I am facing a strange issue with my site, eslemployer dot com. The site was previously hosted on bluehost. I did a server migration to hostgator. Now the problem is there is unusual traffic coming to website to some files in folder qurantouch (supposedly hosted on esl) and looking for mp3 files, and so on. But to my notice, there is no such folder whatsoever on any corner of website, yet my bandwidth is getting utilized.
Trying to dig deep I did found some co-relation between qurantouch and esl by google results. Did try to get help from tech support of both the hosting providers but they are good for nothing except for blocking my hosting for high utilization of resources!
Then I did try to reverse look up qurantouch and eslemployer, to my surprise I found that a version, eslemployer dot com exists on ip address of qurantouch dot com as well as a version existed on ip address of eslemployer dot com, isn't it strange? How can same domain name be available on two diff ip addresses?
To avoid the website from going down currently site uses cloudflare that has been strong to absorb the traffic and keep site up.
I would really like to have some expert solution to this activity going on the website. Support guys suggesting me to go with dedicated server and VPS! They just want to make money of my plight.
I would really like to seek some help in analyzing the situation with me. Can any one here help me anaylse, where things are going wrong? Was it domain transfer from bluehost to hostgator? Are there chances of DNS conflict? I am pretty sure I dont host a folder qurantouch in my current setup. What should I look for? and what should I do? Feeling sick and stuck. already lost a lot of money behind it. Also, i feel traffic is bot generated! Do you think its under attack? kindly help as earliest as possible!!
Looks like they were both at Bluehost on IP 18.104.22.168 at some point. Qurantouch is still there. Either that was a shared hosting account or they were parked/addon domains on the same account or something like that. When you say you migrated "eslemployer", I'm guessing you moved the hosting for that domain only, but the files still existed on the old account (might still be there). If you have a lot of traffic looking for something you don't think should be there, you might wish to look carefully at the folders in the actual account, as well as any .htaccess files that might help point to where this exists (if it does).
Look carefully at the requests to see what directories it's pointing to.
Having problems, or maybe questions about WHT? Head over to the help desk!
Though different companies, but aren't they different operators?
No, both companies are subsidiaries of the Endurance International Group, also known as EIG. They operate dozens of hosting brands, all with identical hosting. Wikipedia has a fairly accurate list of which hosts are property of EIG, but the link in kpmedia's signature is a good read as well.
