How do you manage your servers?

By 'managing your servers' I mean things like:

    - How do you keep track of your servers' details/staus? Is there any helpful software for this?
    - How do you check servers' disks health?
    - After how many years do you retire old servers?

I am new to the bussiness and appreciate if you share your experiences.

You can put your server details in a password protected file either in your local PC or server.

Disk health can be monitored via smartmontools.

You can sell your old hardware or resell it to other new clients :-)

    Hello,

    >>- How do you keep track of your servers' details/staus? Is there any helpful software for this?
If you are having linux servers, I would recommend you to use ezeelogin.com (http://ezeelogin.com/downloads/brochure.pdf) which is a good software to manage multiple servers

    >>How do you check servers' disks health?
You can use nagios plugin to have a disk check

    >> After how many years do you retire old servers?
It depends on the performance, if you feel that your servers are under performing, it would be the right time to get it replaced.
