So there have been several outages since the new company took over?
I had friends in that DC previously and they liked the staff that stayed with the new company. They did say that they had a lot of turnover. Did any of you run into that?
My guys got tired of way too expensive bandwidth pricing and other pricing as well. They always said that the DC was not well connected to real networks, i.e. too many hops to Ashburn or other NY pops, or had very limited number of bw providers.
Looked to me like a small time local place. If you were just looking to have your stuff out of your office and were nearby, then they may be good. Prob why their $$$ is so high.
I will prob stick with more reputable DCs that can offer better redundancy and more POPs.
I remember reading, in the past (when it was Netriplex), that some people had power outage (part of the IDC was affected). We didn't.. I believe 1 outage each 2 years is pretty acceptable and that is what we have been experiencing at all other DataCenters we work with (the worst ones, like FDC, had 1 downtime each month or 1/week, so we moved off quickly). If you know a DataCenter which is able to stay up, without a hiccup, for like 5 years, please let me know.
Heard through grapevine Immedion is changing/restructuring
Heard thru some folks that work for or are family/friends of folks who work at Immedion that the company is in big time restructuring mode, across the whole company. Some folks working there have been told that they will not lose their jobs, but some are contract, not employees.
Does not sound like Immedion is doing well.
Just wanted to share if others are looking at them. Make sure you are not getting into something that will be hard to get out of or may fail immediately.
I have been watching this company for a little over a year and I am not that impressed.
What is this DC like?
What are the prices like?
Is the network any good?
They look small-time because they boast 4 DCs - but 3 of them are all in SC and right up I26. I think the DCs are like only 150 miles apart or something like that. Greenville, Columbia and Charleston.
Then they bought that Asheville location. I like Asheville, but is this company for real?
We are with them for around 4 years, We have 6 high density racks of equipment and I should say they provide superior network. Immedion has invested a lot in the facility and business processes there. we can say for sure that accounts management now is the best we ever seen.
They are targeting business-level clients, so the facility is not for folks who just want to host couple of servers.
