    Copyright

    Hey guys,
    As I jump back into the world of hosting, I notice that a lot of the servers have outdated copyrights. Some are even from 2012. I created this copyright that updates every year.

    Code:
    <?php $startYear = "&copy; 2013 ";
    		$currentYear = date('Y');
    		echo $startYear;
    		if ($startyear != $currentYear) {
        		echo '- ' . $currentYear; } ?><?php echo " $company - $slogan" ?> All Rights Reserved.
    The end result will look like:
    2013 - 2014 Winged Hosting - The Winged Way. All Rights Reserved.

    I of course defined the company and slogan.

    at the top of the page
    Code:
    <?php include 'defines.php' ?>
    and in the defines file:
    Code:
    <?php $company='Winged Hosting';
    $slogan='The Winged Way.'; ?>
    This is one of the best ways to make an auto updating copyright imo.

    Are you offering that to people so they can utilize it on their website.

    Code:
    $startyear != $currentYear
    You're comparing a string ["&copy; 2013 "] to a date [date('Y')].

    Bear, I think that's a better option so the $currentYear will update directly every time. When you have a single site, it might be easy to have it adjusted, but when you run a few dozen, that's the way to go!

    This is a more direct approach.

    &copy; <script type="text/javascript">
    var d = new Date();
    document.write(d.getFullYear());
    </script> Ameriweb Hosting Chicago, Illinois

    &copy; adds the @ sign and simply bracket the whole shebang in <div> to add text formatting.

    The only downfall (if you call it that) is this will display the year at the server so on New Years Eve certain time zones could be off a bit.

    Ben yours is interesting if you place the $slogan definition on one site and have the other sites seek it out. This would allow for an easy way to universally change your slogan every month/day/century ....

    Nice idea!

    Thanks. I make all my sets with a separate header/footer and a defines file eith company names, slogans, phone #, email and other things as well. Makes it easy to update and change.

    One is a string, the other a number. They will never match as they are two different data types. That was the point.
