    WholesaleInternet... what's the hold up?

    Hello,

Just want to know what is this big holdup with getting my dedicated server ready that I ordered a week ago. I understand people say "it's a budget provider" but their site guarantees 1-2 business days, yet when I open a ticket - they couldn't even give me an ETA and closed my ticket immediately. I ordered a server January 1st, and still haven't even received any kind of information except login. Why guarantee 1-2 business days when you can't even follow through with it?

I'm looking at the status of it and it says "Approved 6 days ago." Now what, they need another 6 days to figure out how to get it ready? Their lousy response..

"I'm sorry I cannot give you an ETA currently. We are working on all new orders in the order that they came in. I'm sorry for the delay but we will modify the billing date to when the server is put online."
What is it, 1 server/order a day?! Heck, even when OVH went through the phase where orders were delayed due to back orders/back logs, I received it within 3 business days! I hear WSI has good reputation but setup time is a pain in the a$$.

Can anyone explain what the issue is or have you experienced this before? Maybe to them it's still New Years party time!

Generally WholsealeInternet is very busy because of lots orders they get. Try contacting them via support ticket and ask status of your order.

I did and look at their response.. Seems like they're doing 1 order per day. I mean, OVH went through a big back order/back logs and managed to shed light on a server I purchased, within 3 business days.

    UPDATE from "Spencer":
It is in the build queue for our builders to set up. Due to an abnormal mount of orders we are behind in the build queue I'm sorry for the delay.
    Another 6 day process incoming!

Yeah well, my experience when that occurred was still fantastic as I didn't have to wait an entire week.

It's clear they have a backlog right now so don't take their setup estimate on their website as gospel.

You really have only 2 options.

    1. Quit whinging and wait for them to setup your server; or

    2. Cancel and go elsewhere.

So quick to come to WHT. Is it necessary? I'm not decided, but I do think Wholesale Internet did their part by answering your inquiry. It's a free market, if there's a better deal out there, go buy from someone else. The reason we use the easy, affordable providers is to save money. Not time.

WholesaleInternet and Datashack must be backlogged as they are now showing "out of stock" on all servers.

Their system is broke... I have a few servers being setup with them but they are not under "Pending Services" they are already marked active.

Hopefully they get their act together.

The hold up is two fold: One, we've had a huge influx of orders and two, we've had to hire a bunch of new people to deal with the new orders and they take time to get up to speed.

We more than doubled our staff 30 days ago. Those people are finally getting to where they're productive. We should be all caught up and back to 1-2 business day setups by the end of this week.

If that's the case then it's a bug with our new system. Please submit a ticket so we know who you are and can have one of our developers fix it.

Get bitcoin added to your billing system!

Or at least get cards added again...

We're thinking about bitcoin. I know a lot of people in the bitcoin market and they're all so shady it makes me leary.

Seeing as the majority of your new bulk orders are probably for mining coins it would make sense.

0 chance of fraud, 0 fee and if you use BitPay you can cash the coins instantly into USD after the sale and get daily bank payments.

If you also ask for proof of ID with Bitcoin payments you should get rid of most of the shady customers.

I'd hardly be telling a reputable provider like Wholesale to "get their act together" - You simply cannot make assumptions without knowing the full story. It's been posted quite often indeed in the last few weeks that a lot of the budget providers are low or out of stock due to a huge increase in miners.

My secondary question is why people are so quick to post about "issues" when a simple question directly to the providet would have sufficed.

I am in the same boat as the person that started this thread. I am just getting into dedicated servers and have been using Wholesale internet to fulfill some of my orders. I ordered on the 30th and like the other person that posted am set as active but yet to be set up.

However I did not initially come here I went to the support section of the site and submitted a ticket. Got a response very quickly and though the responses sometimes do not really give an idea of whats going on I am just happy that they responded. On top of that when that response did not make me happy I escalated it and got a response from the Aaron who regularly posts here. He told me what was going on and explained to me the delay, though that does not help with my deadlines it does ease my mind.

Here is what it comes down to with Wholesale internet in my mind for me and my business. The setups and communication are not currently the best but like some others have stated its a free market. On top of all that I have only had one issue with a box after set up and it was reported and taken care of in under 20 minutes so I know they are running their butt off. For me as a business I would rather know that I can get it fixed when there is a issue over a set up time. For me starting out the pricing and the fixit times are more important which in my experience they are doing well with.

In addition to the fact that Bitcoin has its seedy side, there's no telling whether this huge influx of dedicated servers business is a fad. If the hype dies down, and customers decide they don't need their dedi servers anymore, we could all suffer a big drop in business, and for someone like WholesaleInternet, a dramatic drop in payments.

Same situation here as OP. Ordered a server over a week ago, still "Pending". The site shows that my server has been build and it has a password, IP, and rack location, but I can't ping it and I haven't been sent login details.

I can see why people don't want to add bitcoins to their payment system. There seems to be bitcoin bank thefts at least once a month and its value is fluctuating heavily. You have to modify your payment system and then after receiving the bitcoins, turn them into dollars. Some will say its super easy but its just another thing to learn and keep up with.

The dollar is just way simpler.

Bitpay.com is what they should use.

As soon as the payment is complete they convert it unto USD and can send daily bank payments.
