Best Bang for the buck on Dedicated?

I have a lot of CPU intensive processing to do, and I'm looking
for the best bang for the buck CPU wise on dedicated servers.
Minimal requirements otherwise. US hosting only.

    I did find a Core i7-4770 for $89 / month. (9977 on passmark)

Are there any server offers out there that can beat this on
    a passmark / price metric?

Would you be comfortable using a cloud virtual machine that can dedicated cpu's to your environment? Might be the best bang for your buck considering you pay for what you use.

Otherwise, i'd probably consider quad or dual quad servers. Yes, you can do them for better than $89/mo as well.

What are the other details required for this server? I understand the CPU side, what about RAM, HDDs and bandwidth?

No VPS, as I'll be using it all.

    the core i7 4770 has
8GB ram, 64GB SSD, 10 TB bandwidth, 100 Mbps port.

A $89/month it will be a difficult server to beat. I would go with it and check with them as to what the upgrade options are for future needs.

I completely disagree. Yes, you technically are "paying for what you use"... But their pricing incorporates the cloud software overhead.

For example, Google Compute-Engine is $1.044/hour for 16 cores on their High CPU Machine Type. That's about $750/month.
