    Backup solution for dedicated server

Whats the best, affordable, and reliable backup solution for my Dedicated Server?

Websites to be backed up are 100GB in size

    My questions are:

    1. How much backup disk space do I need? I will backup daily(for the last 1week), and last 2months(monthly backup)

    2. Which solution is best for me?

    - Buying cheap backup dedicated server on OVH then rsync/r1soft
    - http://r1softlicenses.com hosted backup
    - JaguarPC Datalockbox
    - Storage VPS then rsync/r1soft
    - or your suggestions?

You can just get a remote backup from any provider offering a backup or get a vps and use it as backup. Both can be cheap.

I am personally using ovh as my backup as you can't beat their $29 for a 2TB, but you need to keep in mind that it isn't redundant going with something like that. If your data is mission critical I'd recommend going with a backup specific provider like the above poster mentioned.

+1 to that. Get a Kimsufi server, if you can manage it yourself. You will have tons of space for backup.

Assuming you have 100 gigs of data to be backed up, if you do compression, it would be about 50% savings (Without knowing the content, can be more or less).
    7 days backup = 50 * 7 = 350 gb data + 100 gb (monthly for 2 months).
So I would say 500 gigabyte, maybe 600 to be on the safe side

How was your experience with r1softlicenses.com? I read somewhere here that you was also looking for your backup solution. How did you manage your backups?

I have a license through them and they're great - very good support as well. I use R1Soft for my backups with no compression. R1Soft only does differential backups - so it will never store unchanged files twice which really saves you a ton of space over time. I have it take a weekly archive with a history of 10 weeks but in addition I backup 3 times per day and save 90 restore points so I have roughly a month worth of restore points at any given time.
