Centos 6.4, Proftpd installed, i can able to login via FTP user which i created from the OS "USERS AND GROUPS".
i can logn to user home directory, i can upload files, and can do anything except creating new folders.
it give me following error for example i try create new folder by name testfolder
STATUS:> [12/29/2013 9:42:28 PM] PWD skipped. Current folder: "/public_html".
COMMAND:> [12/29/2013 9:42:28 PM] MKD testfolder
[12/29/2013 9:42:28 PM] 550 testfolder: No such file or directory
ERROR:> [12/29/2013 9:42:28 PM] Requested action not taken (e.g., file or directory not found, no access).
ERROR:> [12/29/2013 9:42:28 PM] Can't create following directory: "/public_html/testfolder".
check back logs showing pam Session of user login in the /logs/secure .
is there any setting that i missed ?, everything is default except i added Passv ports 30000:35000 in proftpd conf file because i m using CSF and already allowed the ports. and everything is correct, permissions, owner etc.
first check the config file for the ftp client. There are usually settings that control what users can do once logged in. I know it sounds crazy but there are different settings to manage uploads and other actions.
next check ownership of the folder, I think its chown -R user:group of the folder in question. Definitely look up that one to make sure.
