I have a 4 cPanel VPS's I want to backup to one direct admin dedicated server (dedicated comes with free direct admin so that's what I'm getting). I want to be able to use the backup and restore feature built into the VPS's WHM to make life easy in case I need to restore an account.
My question is what script will or online tutorial simplify this setup for me at the cheapest cost hopefully.
Thanks very much and happy Holidays to All on Web Hosting Talk.
I never used any such custom built plugins for backup / restore. But you have an option to use the new cPanel backup system to generate local backup as well as remote backup to your dedicated server ( for each VPS ). Whenever you need to restore an account / files, you may transfer the respective file to the corresponding VPS via rsync / scp ( setup SSH keys to make it easier ). Thus you can easily avoid paying extra bucks for additional backup system.
Thank you for your reply nixtree. I am purchasing the new dedicated server just for the purpose of another backup location and to hopefully use the backup/restore feature in the VPS's WHM in case if a restoration is needed on one account.
So basically I just want to backup cpanel 4 VPS's to a new direct admin dedicated server. My VPS's do not come with any backups other than restoring the entire VPS which I probably will never use. I want to be able to restore an account directly from a VPS using WHM that will come from the new dedicated server. Just like it would be if you had a dedicated cpanel server with 2 hard drives and one set for /backup for example.
Is there a script to make this process easy or online tutorials to set it up the exact way I want?
Like I said, you can use remote backup option from backup configuration and use set your dedicated server as backup destination for each servers. When ever you need to restore ( account or file ), transfer that file / directory from backup server to particular VPS and take appropriate actions to restore. This setup completely rely on cPanel backup system with a little manual work during restoration. if you want everything automated, try something like http://applications.cpanel.net/cpane...backup-plugin/ . I never used it, but seems to fit into your need. Other such solutions like Idera , bacula4hosts may be little expensive for you. Also you can take a look into http://applications.cpanel.net/categ...es/?s&x=1&y=21 for more information about third party scripts regarding backup in cPanel.
