I have some question with Intel vPro Technology. I found that its have KVM system to manage computer remotely.
1. Do i need Intel motherboard to run this?
2. What if i run on a gigabyte motherboard..
3. Do i need to install any software to client computer .
4. Can it control power OFF/ON.
5. Can we use virtual media.
If you have a vPro capable board you have an entry in the BIOS for it, where you can configure the IP you want.
vPRO (unlike IPMI) does allow you to share the same IP with the main system if you want that, but you do need to configure that.
Thanks Maxnet. I didnt realize that the chipset also need vPro. I will try to find a reasonable motherboard with vPro support. I love the option of using regualar hardware and being able to manage it remotely. All my non-prod environment management cost can be lowered and I can have happy developers with faster systems.
Is there a similar feature for AMD processors? I observe a lot of different options listed on AMD desktop processors but none seem to be usable. Has anyone tried using remote management on AMD? I have a AMD 8320 with Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD5.
