VPS for Web and Email Setup

    Hi,

I am tyring to setup 2 VPS, one for Web and MySQL and one for Email. We want to offer shared hosting services.

VPS 1 will have CPanel and SSD and will be the Web and MySQLServer.
VPS 2 will be an Email Server with big disk capacity and low CPU and RAM.

Is this a good setup? How can I achieve this?
Do I still need Cpanel on VPS 2?

Please share also some links for some guides/tutorials.

    Thanks in advance

You could easily point the MX records for each domain to a secondary server that is handling mail, however, you'll need to figure out a way to manage email account administration on the secondary server.

I could see this working by disabling the email options in cPanel from your users. You'll then have to have a separate portal for email account administration. (You wouldn't need cPanel on the second server)

You should also benefit from the dual servers by setting up redundant DNS.

Is there a reason you are aiming for a setup like this?

The main reason it to cut costs. SSD is expensive and Email needs more space.

I got some useful info from this link:
    http://forums.cpanel.net/f43/cpanel-...er-292461.html

It suggests that I need to disable the Create Email icon in CPanel and instead clients will need to create the email accounts on the Email Server (VPS 2).

That looks like correct way to create email account with 2 VPS setup.
IMO too much trouble for end users.
You have to spend more time to explain to customers as well.

    How heavy is your MySQL?

    Because most setup they do:

Web and Emails in the same VPS then another VPS for mysql.
