I'm using namecheap as registrar and leaseweb as hosting.
I don't want to use leaseweb DNS anymore but namecheap's.
Is that even possible to do on my own or i would need my hosting assistance?
PS:The reason behind this is that my hosting charges me €1 monthly fee for every URL redirect while my registrar does it for FREE.
But cannot set URL redirects on namecheap until i transfer DNS back to them, that's where i need help.
I've just made this change myself. It's fairly easy - in Namecheap, just click the "Transfer DNS back to us" option for your domain, then click the "All Host Records" option which then appears and you can set your A and MX records etc.
I read that i must let know to my hosting that i want this, look:
"You cannot change the name servers of your domain in the Self Service Center. Please contact domain support with the name server information and desired name server IP addresses, and the records will be updated for you." https://kb.leaseweb.com/display/KB/D...ng+information
If i did transfer all "records back to us" on namecheap i wouldn't know how to make the record for the site to work.
If you're moving your DNS records from a managed service (Leaseweb) to one that you manage yourself then you will need to learn how DNS records work. Just search for some tutorials, or else copy the settings from the Leaseweb server. If you paste them here we can tell you which ones might need changing.
Depending on which control panel you are using, you might find suggested DNS settings there.
It takes up to 48 hours for DNS changes to propagate around the system - if you get the settings wrong it can therefore take a while to fix them, during which your sites may be unavailable. If you're not sure, get help.
