Pls recommend a good web host for Joomla! 3.0 sites
Pls. recommend a good web host for Joomla! 3.0 sites.
My concerns are backups, support, price (tight budget), pref. unlimited bandwidth and space.
Thanks

The best way to keep the price down is to drop the requirement for unlimited space. The quickest way to explain that is to say that it needs unlimited price too achieve. That slightly over simplifies. But the point is still valid that if your budget is low, you either need them to promise a correspondingly small amount of space for you, or they're going to have to cut the corners on quality of support or backups, our the servers will be overcrowded and slow.
Any good shared host can handle a modest Joomla site. What is your (realistic) budget? Not as active on WHT as I used to be, but still drop in and receive email notifications from here.

Where are your visitors mostly located at? You should host your site closer to your visitors.

How tight of a budget?
Be careful as a budget provider will most likely not have daily backups and 24/7 support.

Despite that you need Shared hosting, you'd still ask questions about web host's network, internal connectivity (you'd be surprised how many Shared hosts keep servers on 100 Mbps ports), and data center location. All requirements like support and backups would not be a challenge for any quality Shared hosting service provider.

You'll find a reliable host for that easy, that's a realistic price ans specs, I recommend freshrostedhosting and crocweb. They have softaculous too which can install Joomla 3 within one click.
Unlimited is a advertising gimmick, a bit like a sofa store saying 50% off when it isn't.

Unlimited Space and Bandwidth is a bad idea to purposely look for, hence it isn't an option on these forums. Be more realistic look at the traffic/space you really require and look for one of many many trusted companies that have been running for many years in the offers section.

Unless they reverted it (I will take a look!); they removed the selling of Unlimited/Unmetered for Shared Hosting during the summer. I know some guys opened a debate to make it go back to the way it was. But personally its a bad idea as its physically impossible to provide in theory!

Don't start that debate again here, folks. I know all the arguments that were aired in the thread that debated that change, but going over them again now won't help the OP find their Joomla host.

Nobody is James; just a matter of opinion being expressed to the OP and we are working out between us if its allowed on here as a requirement once again, and it seems it has!
@letsgo22 how are you getting on with your search? A budget would be useful as James said for us to suggest a ball park system for you. Also do you require a control panel such as cPanel to aid your website or an auto-script installer like Softaculous to install Joomla in a few clicks requiring little effort?███ ★ ZonedHost.com & ZonedHost.co.uk - Since 2009.

Joomla 3 requires php 5.3 or above so look for a host with a php 5.3 support (although most hosts support it)

Although the other reason to avoid hosts who don't offer at least PHP 5.3 is that PHP 5.2 and earlier are all end-of-life, so it would be a major security risk to use them.

Unlimited well I can't remember any. Unmetered bandwidth -> That sounds right:
1- Stablehost
2- Hawkhost.--

Remember that unlimited or unmetered bandwidth does not really exist. Shared hosting is ALWAYS limited as far as the allowed number of visitors per day to your site goes. If a host doesn't monitor your bandwidth or disk space, they will monitor your CPU usage or inodes (or both). So the best thing to look for in a host is not the way in which they limit the amount of traffic that your site can receive, but rather how much traffic they allow before they limit you, regardless of the technique they use to limit it.
