    Looking for 72GB RAM server

I am looking for a dedicated server with the following specs:
    Dual Intel Xeon L5520
    72GB RAM
    4x1TB SATA drives
    HW RAID card
    5TB+ BW on 1Gbps port
    US location
    /26 IPv4 included
    Budget-under $180. (its doable)

    Any <<snipped>> suggestions please?

I don't think it's easy finding such high spec server for such little price.
The IPs alone are already around 120 USD, so I wish you all the best.

Why do you even bother posting this? You are _obviously_ looking for a company that bought their DELL off EBAY from an OFF LEASE bulk sale.
So go look in the DEDICATED SERVERS OFFERS SECTION for any of the multitude of the small companies dealing in selling used, ebay bought servers, on a monthly basis.

72 gb of RAM seems a little bit of over kill, I've never even heard of a board that supports that much RAM

Kevin... I've seen boards that support 1TB of ram. And yes, I did say 1TB.

Damn with that much ram I would cache everything.

Also on ebay you can find cs24ty servers for like $400 with 72gb of ram. Could always buy one and then colo it for cheaper then it would cost to rent. Just add drives.

Thanks for the mention. I think we already spoke to the OP previously from his query on another forum.

I bet no one is willing to provide warranty to a server like this. What if it breaks after weeks or months? Thats why renting is safer and wiser.

We are not talking 10+ year old hardware here... These are under 5 years old (L5520 came out Q0109), very good offlease equipment for the price.

Done. I'll be setting up a website for a few laughs pretty darn quick. For the record, the domain is from Namecheap.

no warranty but if it breaks just buy another. you could buy a stack of them for fairly cheap.

  21. #21
This is true indeed. So the provider must have at least 10% of the same models available for replacement. Best not to rent all out.
