re: i am having a problem moving files

I am running a "cpanel" setup. And I am the server administrator. This is a new blog I am working on. And this is all new uncharted territory for me. This is the 1st time using FileZilla to move files from my laptop to my web site and it isn't working. I dragged the sub dir images with a jpg picture file in it to the input dir and it won't work.

    Hi reble1,

You have to make sure of two things.
    1. All the files and folders inside the folder you are trying to connect via FTP are having correct permissions and ownership then only you will be able to upload files or update files via FTP.
    2. You have to make sure passiveFTP is enabled in the server you are trying to connect to and passsive ports are enabled in the firewall.

re: i am having a problem moving files

I am running the free version of ZoneAlarm. In the free version of ZoneAlarm I can't change any ports period. Example a voip prog called Echolink (a ham radio prog) needs ports 5198, 5199 and 5200 opened. I can't use Echolink with the free version of ZoneAlarm. And I don't have the almost $50. some odd bucks right now to buy the payed version of any antivirus/firewall prog. So far even with ZA's lack of port control it does a fairly good job for what I need it for. Uless someone knows of a totally free antivirus/firewall that is better then what I am using.
