    Jollyworkshosting vps review

i have bought a vps from jollyworkshosting.com about 15days ago. and my experience is great. i am new to vps, and this is my 1st review of any host. the vps was ready within 1 hour of order. kloxo was installed by them. after that i really didn't needed any help. i don't know how to use vps, google helped me in that. learned the commands then used them. now things are running smoothly. i am running 1 wordpress blog in this vps. i didn't created any tickets with them as there was no problem. so dont know about their support response time. as my first vps its just great.

1 more thing, is running a dedicated server is same as running vps? if it is then i am planning to go with a dedi soon.

    Thumbs up

Great to hear your review @reldegart, Mind if you share the disk speed & network speed?

Comparing to VPS, it would be difficult to run a dedi - it all depend on which provider you take & all. Try getting managed servers, it will save your time but costly. Unmanaged providers don't help you much & give you KVM access when you have trouble with the server - So you might need to hire a technician or get a technician when you need any help.

dont know about the disk speed. they dont have ssd so speed should be normal. dont know how to check it. uploaded the script once. and site loads quite fast. network is 100mbps. can use upto 600gb bandwidth, have used only 1gb bandwidth as the site is new.

    Use these SSH commands

    For testing Disk I/O

    dd if=/dev/zero of=test bs=64k count=16k conv=fdatasync

    For getting server details

    cat /proc/cpuinfo

    Check download speed

    wget cachefly.cachefly.net/100mb.test

    Post your results please!

DD tests aren't everything when it comes to VPS performance, they've very overrated tests. Most people I've ever spoken to are more concerned with consistant performance and stability rather than high I/O readings.

Glad that you've had a good experience with them -- good work JWH!

To expand a bit, a DD test only tests disk IO for that moment. So, you could happen to run the DD test at a particularly good/bad time, it may not truly reflect the real disk IO you'll get.

i am paying 4.98$/month for 1gb guaranteed and 2gb burstable ram, 100gb hdd space and 600gb bandwidth. it was a black friday lifetime 50% discount offer. considering price i think i am getting more than i am paying for.
