Strange message I receive from hotmail

I receive this strange message from hotmail when I try to log into my personal email account using my phone

"We've noticed some unusual activity in your Outlook account. To help protect you and everyone else, we've temporarily blocked your account. To unblock it, please sign in from a computer."

    What is that all about?

It's a security measure they've noticed some activity which is likely not regular with the history of the account so they've blocked it.

Also, it is probably a good idea to find out why the message happened in the first place (don't just ignore it).

Did you enter your password wrong too many times on your phone?
Do you use the same password for multiple sites?
Is your friends getting SPAM from your Outlook account?
    etc...

I wouldn't call it spying but monitoring your activity to try and help detect any thing out of the norm. It's more of a protection thing if anything. It's like when you make purchases with your bank debit card and when you make a sudden purchase over seas or the like they call just to verify.

I would update your password and scan all of your computers you've accessed your hotmail account from.

It might be because they detected some irregularities when you tried logging in using your phone. There is nothing strange in it.Nowadays most of the site has this feature.
