Exclamation WordPress Permalinks Causing vBulletin 404 Error

    Hi Team,

I have been experiencing an odd issue ever since I shifted to Wired Tree server a year ago.

I didnít bother much about it earlier but now Iím revamping my website and need to resolve it.

    The Problem:

    WordPress is installed on www.example.com

vBulletin 3 is installed on www.example.com/forums

Upon changing WordPress Permalinks from default to ĎPost Nameí, all vBulletin links redirect to Word Press and throw 404 error.

I understand that it is a .htaccess related issue. However, this issue never happened with my previous hosting provider.

Iíd greatly appreciate support to resolve this. Thanks!

Perhaps there were some changes such as Apache 1.4 - 2.2 or 2.4 when you moved over? PHP execution methods? (suPHP vs DSO?) Even though .htaccess would be code that you are responsible for, I would be happy to have our staff take a look at your issue if they haven't already. Do you happen to have a Support ticket open already about the issue? If so, would you mind passing it along?

Hi James. Thanks for pitching in. I have been attempting to explain this issue to support team but in vain.

Please go through all the posts in this ticket: TLS-218673.

You are very welcome Vitya. It's always worth reaching out to our Support team when you have a question. In this case, the solution was .htaccess based and this falls under your responsibility as site code. However, I did authorize one of our support employees to make a small change for you though as a courtesy. Thanks and have a great week Vitya!

Thanks. The issue has been resolved. Just in case someone else is also having the same problem, here is the solution (Credit: WiredTree):

    Update this in vBulletin's .htaccess

    #RewriteBase

    to:

    RewriteBase /forums/

Or whatever your forum path is.
