Where $CTID is the container number. This will drop you in so you can troubleshoot - provided that the container is mounted and /vz/private/$CTID isn't corrupted. If the container isn't running then you might have a bad OS template, bad container config file, or master config file. You'd have to look at /var/log/messages.
